For patients
Understand which providers and pathways may fit their clinical needs, preferences, timing and financial circumstances.
Initiative in developmentOur mission
MedSpan is building the global network connecting medical needs with medical capacity: a neutral operating system for cross-border healthcare that helps identify the right care, in the right place, at the right time—and coordinates the pathway to make it happen.
The global network connecting medical needs with medical capacity.
The opportunity
Patients, hospitals, insurers and humanitarian organisations still coordinate care through disconnected intermediaries, one-to-one emails and manual processes. Relevant clinical expertise and capacity may exist elsewhere, but there is no simple, neutral way to discover it and coordinate the best pathway for each patient.
Understand which providers and pathways may fit their clinical needs, preferences, timing and financial circumstances.
Connect relevant medical needs with clinical capabilities and available capacity, with clearer information and more coordinated workflows.
Explore ways to direct clinical expertise, resources and funding where they can meet important needs and strengthen access to care.
Our solution
A trusted global provider network, combined with technology-enabled clinical administration, patient navigation, logistics, funding and outcomes management. MedSpan aims to sit above individual providers, insurers and NGOs—connecting stakeholders and coordinating the optimal pathway rather than promoting a particular hospital or destination.
The right pathway depends on the patient and the clinical need. Sometimes the patient may travel to a provider abroad. In other cases, the answer may be virtual specialist input, bringing expertise closer to the patient, or strengthening local capacity so travel is unnecessary.
Our value proposition
The same cross-border operating system can support different funding models, aligned around the patient's optimal pathway.
For patients, employers, insurers and hospitals: access high-quality care wherever it can be delivered best and most efficiently; coordinate cross-border pathways transparently; and reduce the friction of fragmented referrals, administration and logistics. The intended proposition is better quality, lower cost, shorter waits and less administrative friction.
For donors, governments and humanitarian organisations: make specialist care accessible to patients who cannot pay, direct patients and clinical resources where they can achieve greatest impact, and strengthen local health systems. The intended impact is more patients treated, better outcomes, stronger local capacity and less wasteful travel.
The MedSpan principle
Sometimes the patient travels; sometimes the specialist does, care happens virtually, or local capacity is strengthened so nobody needs to travel. The goal is to match each patient to the optimal pathway—not simply to sell a destination.
MedSpan is at an early stage, validating its initial use cases and operating model and engaging potential clinical, technology and commercial founding partners. The network and platform described here are a proposed model, not an operational service.
